Neil Laird has been chief financial officer for SumTotal Systems since the company’s formation in March 2004. With over 30 years of finance, operations and global enterprise experience, Laird is now responsible for SumTotal’s departments of worldwide finance, human resources, hosting operations and information technology. Laird was senior vice president and CFO of Docent Inc, one of the two companies that merged to form SumTotal Systems, from 2002 until 2004. Prior to his position with Docent, Laird was CFO of ADAC Laboratories, a publicly traded $350M medical products company that was acquired in December 2000 by Philips Medical Systems, a division of Royal Philips Electronics. During his tenure at ADAC, he enhanced the company’s internal financial processes and helped drive a turnaround effort that took the company from a loss to a profit position. Before working for ADAC, Laird also served as chief operating officer and vice president of finance of Coherent Medical Group, a division of Coherent Inc that supplies medical lasers. Laird’s career also includes over 17 years with Measurex Corporation, a publicly traded supplier of computerized process control systems, as well as time with Reed International PLC and Price Waterhouse. Laird is a UK-chartered accountant and holds a Masters of Administration degree from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. |
